Living in Tradition

One of Port St. Lucie's most popular master-planned communities — a walkable, resort-style town with its own downtown, hundreds of acres of lakes and parks, and a home for just about every stage of life. Here's the honest local rundown.

The vibe

Small-town charm, resort-style polish

Tradition is built around Tradition Square — a real downtown with shops, restaurants, a big central green, fountains, and a packed calendar of food-truck nights, live music, farmers markets, and seasonal events. Wrap that in 500+ acres of lakes and 300+ acres of parks and preserves, tree-lined streets, and walking trails, and you get a community that feels like a friendly small town but lives like a resort. It's clean, planned, and social — the kind of place where neighbors actually know each other.

Who it suits

A fit for a lot of different lives

One of Tradition's superpowers is range — it has distinct neighborhoods for very different buyers.

55+ / Active adult
Del Webb, Valencia, LakePark & more

Gated, guard-attended, resort-amenity communities built for low-maintenance living and an active social calendar.

Families
All-ages neighborhoods

Newer family communities near parks, schools, and the town center — with space to grow and kids close by.

Relocators
Easy, turnkey, low-upkeep

Lots of new construction and lock-and-leave homes — ideal if you're moving in from out of state and want simple.

Remote pros
Quiet + connected

Fast internet, quick I-95 access, and a walkable downtown make working from home here genuinely comfortable.

Homes & a rough price feel

What your money buys here

A ballpark to set expectations — it moves with the market, so ask me for today's real numbers on any community.

Townhomes & villas

Often from the high $300s — a smart entry point, and popular with first-timers and snowbirds.

Single-family (mainstream)

Roughly the mid-$400s to $600s, depending on community, size, and how new the build is.

Larger & luxury

Bigger floor plans, premium 55+ resorts, and lakefront lots can run $700s to $1M+.

Mostly new construction

Builders like Mattamy, Del Webb, GL Homes (Valencia), Kolter, GHO, and Taylor Morrison are all active here — bring your own agent to the model (me!), at no cost to you.

HOA & what's included

Yes, it's an HOA community — and that's the point

Because Tradition is master-planned, nearly every neighborhood here is an HOA community — that's what keeps it so tidy and amenity-rich. Fees vary by community but generally run from around the low $300s to the $500s+ per month, and they often bundle in a lot: lawn care and irrigation, high-speed internet and expanded cable, alarm monitoring, community lighting, gated/guarded entries in some, and full access to the clubhouses and amenities. If a true no-HOA property is a must-have for you, that's usually found in other parts of Port St. Lucie — and I'm glad to point you there instead.

Standout amenities

There's a lot to love within a golf-cart ride

Clubhouses & pools

Resort pools with lap lanes and spas, fitness centers, and social clubhouses across the community.

Courts & play

Pickleball, tennis, basketball, bocce, dog parks, and miles of walking and biking trails.

Brand-new parks

The new 110-acre Tradition Regional Park (with a first-of-its-kind BMX track) and Stars and Stripes Park are opening nearby.

Healthcare next door

Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital is right in the community — a genuine draw for retirees and families alike.

Shop, dine & play

Everyday life is genuinely easy here

Shopping

The Landing at Tradition — a 600,000-sq-ft center with Target, Bass Pro Shops, Old Navy, DSW and more — is right here, alongside the shops around Tradition Square.

Dining

From Tradition Square favorites like Pastaio and Sake Too to newcomers like Island Pig and Fish and Swift Grill — plus easy bites like Bagel Brothers and Tropical Smoothie.

Golf

Championship golf is minutes away at PGA Village and Kolter's PGA Village Verano — three courses and a resort clubhouse right on Tradition's doorstep.

Entertainment & events

The Tradition Square town green hosts food-truck nights, live music, farmers markets, and movie nights — a real community calendar, not just a subdivision.

Getting around

Central, connected, and close to the good stuff

Tradition sits right off I-95, so commuting north or south is easy, and everyday shopping and dining are minutes away at the Tradition and nearby village centers. When you want sand, the Hutchinson Island and Jensen Beach shorelines are roughly a 25–30 minute drive east. It's the best of both worlds: a quiet, self-contained community with the coast — and the wider Treasure Coast — well within reach.
